The Regional Innovation System as a network cooperation of legal and public institutions, allows to create, use and publication of knowledge, innovation and new technologies in the region. Participants of such regional partnership shall represent entities of regional research and innovation policy such as: administration, business, science and education.

The basis of regional innovation systems are local and regional authorities, leading effective innovation policy.  The main instrument for shaping innovation policy at the regional level is the Regional Innovation Strategy. It sets out the strategic objectives of innovation policy and the way to achieve them based on diagnosis of the innovation potential of the region. Furthermore, it indicates the sequence of activities and tasks necessary to boost the innovative development of the region.

Regional Innovation Strategy means both, a process and a document, it should be continuously reviewed and adapted to the rapidly changing situation in the region and its surroundings.

The primary purpose of the regional innovation strategy is building an efficient innovation system and consequently, stimulating the regional development and contribute to the competitiveness and attractiveness of the region through the creation and use of knowledge and innovation.

The process of creation of Regional Innovation Systems usually has an evolutionary character. Swietokrzyskie Region is at the beginning of its journey of innovation, which will result in the efficiently functioning regional innovation system. We are aware of hard work and obstacles we have to face in this process. But there is no doubt, this is the only way that allow our region to improve its position in the rankings of innovation and competitiveness.

The most important for the development of regional innovation systems, including ours - Swietokrzyski Innovation System, is the broad involvement of key regional partners pursuing clearly defined tasks within the framework consistently and systematically implemented strategy.
