Swietokrzyskie Innovation System - Our Region

The Świętokrzyskie region is placed in a specific point on a geographical, historic and economic map of Poland. The location of a province at the intersection of important communication routes, not far from largest Polish agglomerations and airports: Warszawa, Kraków, Łódź, Katowice and close to the Slovakia and Ukraine border, makes it a very attractive place for investments. The strength of regional economy is the industrial north of the region with cities like: Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski, Skarżysko Kamienna and Starachowice. Well prospering building material industry is based on it's own materials. Building companies from Kielce are the largest and most dynamic ones in Poland. The important part of economy is metallurgical, machine, precise and textile industry. Eastern part of the region (areas of: Sandomierz – Opatów – Staszów) is famous for its fertile land and highly developed food, fruit and vegetable industry.

The Świętokrzyskie province's territory is 11.672 km. sq. The population is 1.328 000. It is divided into 102 communes and 14 districts.

The capital of the region is the city of Kielce – the city located in the heart of the Świętokrzyskie Mountains is the main centre of business and tourism for the Świętokrzyskie Region. The town is also a culture centre with a long tradition.

Świętokrzyskie is easily accessible for touristic movement. The density of local roads makes it possible to reach every touristic-attractive places. For those wanting to rest in this region, large variety of attractions await: untainted natural environment, diverse scenery (Świętokrzyskie Mountains - one of the oldest in Europe, beautiful caves, large forest complexes, rivers and lakes), hundreds of unique monuments and museums. The ones that prefer active-rest will find here many attractive sport objects, bicycle routes, on-foot routes, ski-lifts, agricultural tourism farms, horse riding centres as well as places for: water-sports, winter-sports, air-sports and motor-sports. Picturesque hiking routes provide unforgettable experiences to the tourists. In the regional offer there are also famous mineral waters in Busko Zdrój SPA and Health Resort, excellent SPA in Solec Zdrój as well as beautiful SPA park.

Świętokrzyskie has also highly-equipped research and educational base, i.a.: Jan Kochanowski University, University of Technology in Kielce, Świetokrzyskie Innovation and Technology Transfer Centre in Kielce, Kielce Technology Park.

The city is an important centre for fairs and exhibitions. Kielce Trade Fairs, which organize nearly 30 specialized events, often connected with conferences and displays, which creates perfect opportunities to initiate business contacts. Date of publication: Tuesday, 21 June 2016
