Municipality of Vidin is situated in the northwestern part of the Republic of Bulgaria and covers an area of 501 thousand sq km (44 ° 13 'N and 22 ° 41' E). The passing through its territory two major trans-European transport routes - Corridor № 4 (Nuremberg - Berlin - Dresden - Prague - Craiova - Calafat - Vidin - Sofia - Kulata - Thessalonica) and Corridor № 7 on the rivers Rhine - Main – Danube, as well as the soon-to be-finished second bridge over the Danube, are important prerequisites for the development of this region. Vidin is the first major Bulgarian port on the River Danube. The geographic characteristic is directly associated with the picturesque location of the municipal center along its right bank.
